The story continues...

So they sent me to the Manchester Enterprise, the car company that picks you up! (That's their pitch when they answer the phone). Anyway, after they had my car ready they decided that the Manchester Enterprise is too far from where I work and sent me to the Clayton Enterprise. Now, it is 5:30pm. I'm still at work and need to be in class at 6pm. Its impossible to have the Clayton people come pick me up to take me to their office, fill up a contract, drive back to campus and get to class on time. They were also closing at 6pm. So, we decided I would have them pick me up at my home the next morning. I rush out of work and take the metro to get to the other campus for class.

Its already around 5:45 and as I waited for the ride I called my parents in distress to release my frustration. I get on the metro and finally get to class around 6:30pm. Suddenly, I get that funny feeling. Where is my cellphone? Guess what? I left it on the metro!!!!! I search all my 3 bags and two coats a million times. How am I going to contact Ryan and let him know when to pick me up and where? During our 10 minute break at 7:30 I went to the computer lab to send Ryan and email. Good news. Thankfully another medschool employee found it. He called my dad, who called my boyfriend, who emailed me. Yes! I'm getting my cell phone back! But still I need someone to pick me up. Jose was online so I asked him to call Ryan and have him pick me up after class at 8:30. Once with Ryan, used his cellphone to call the guy. Now, I was hoping I could get the phone back that same night but the guy that found it was already in his home in North County and it was not going to be possible.
Oh no! How is Enterprise going to know when and where to pick me up in the morning so I can get a car!? I woke up at 7:30am, when the opened to let them know I was now in a new number and arranged a pickup time at 8:30am. I get ready, sit and wait. 9:00m I get a call on Ryan's phone. They had been waiting for a while but tried calling my cellphone first. Poor guy. Anyway, he took me to their offices, I filled out the contract and they got me in a red convertible. Nice! Once at work I got in contact with the guy that found my phone and thanked him a million times when I got my phone back.

Bad Communicator or Big missunderstanding

On the morning of 11/05/07 my car was hit by a neighbor as she backed out of the driveway. Another neighbor saw the accident and left a note on my windshield stating that the driver had not stopped to see the damage.

Turns out the night before I got home late and there was no street parking. I have a small car so I squeezed into a small spot right by my boyfriend's Ryan driveway. My bumper was blocking the driveway by a few inches but I thought: "Hey, I know the people that live there. They have plenty of space to backup. Lets ASSUME they are smart enough to look back and not hit my car."

No, it wasn't my boyfriend that hit my car. It was his roommate. I emailed the girl that morning explaining what the neighbor had seen and written on the note. That night the driver told me she had been in another accident so she did not want to get the insurance involved. So, we agreed she would pay for the damage from her pocket. So on 11/12/07 Ryan took the car in for a quote. The damage, a broken tail light and the bumper, would cost almost $550.00. Yikes. I felt bad. My car had been technically blocking the driveway. So I agreed to get the tail light fixed and the bumper retouched. This was only about $120.00.

I waited until the holiday rush was over and took my car in for repair on 1/15/08. I emailed the driver to let her know. BACKFIRE! She had decided she was only going to pay half of the total amount. I explained to her that not getting the insurance involved was my compromise. She said her only offer was to pay for half of the costs of the damage and argued that if I wanted her to pay for everything she wanted me to pay for her car. I said I was not going to take that offer and that if she was going to back out our agreement I would contact the insurance company. In the end, that's what we did. Her insurance ended up covering for the entire costs of the damage. Turns out you cannot back out of your driveway and hit stationary objects.... It doesn't matter the circumstances. As a driver you have the responsibility to always be aware of your surroundings.

Now, my car was already at the shop. I was getting only the tail light fixed. So that evening I picked up my car. Paid the $120.00 for the fix and arranged for a reimbursement from her insurance company. Of course, now the insurance would cover all the damage, including the bumper. So I made the arrangements with them to pay the shop directly and made an appointment for 1/21/08 to get the bumper fixed... Or so I ASSUMED again. I figured that the insurance was transferring the shop all the information I gave them and that the shop knew they had to fix the bumper... They didn't even ask what I was bringing in my car... Surprise, surprise, they fixed the tail light again! Now I won't have my car back until Wednesday or Thursday... I am waiting for Enterprise to call me back so I can pick up a rental car that the insurance will take care of....

A nice quote...

"Quiero amarte sin absorberte, apreciarte sin juzgarte, unirme a ti sin esclavizarte, invitarte sin exigirte, dejarte sin sentirme culpable, criticarte sin herirte y ayudarte sin menospreciarte."

"I want to love you without clutching, appreciate you without judging, join you without invading, invite you without demanding, leave you without guilt, criticize you without blame, and help you without insulting."
